LVMazdas was rockin it tonight... that's the most members I've seen from here at a race yet.

there were at least six of us: Erich, JP, and Esteban, and of course me, Rick, and Michelle (who are at all of them anyway)  there might have been a couple of others, I kinda recognized a couple of people in mazdas but didn't know if I had seen them at past races, or at the meets.

my best time for the night was 45.017, I could have did a little better especially if I had a few more runs but no biggy

my second best time of the day... My fastest run was 1/10th of a second faster, but the video didnt come out as well

this was my first run, I actually kept it in 1st gear the whole time... (only run that I didn't shift into second)

Wow that's a tight course, no wonder you were using 1st most of the time.

yeah, silverton always is... Usually silverton tracks are less about keeping a good racing line, and more about controlling the weight of your car so that you can keep as much thrust on the pavement as possible... (especially in first where most cars could easily break the wheels just by goosing it)

sorry, not sure how I missed this... with a mod like that you might fit into CSP, but its possible you might not even fit in that class... I would ask Rick about CSP rules and see if it fits.

Hey Carl, I've been intersted in doing an auto-x, but at about 15 second in the video there looked as if there was a possiabilty of three different ways to go, how did you know it was bascially a left handed u-turn??

Its alot easier to distinguish the cones in person then on a video. Plus you get to walk the course beforehand.

shale hit it right on the head... it's a combo of walking the course before going out, and the fact that the perspective is alot different when you are out there... my camera sits on top of my windshield too so it's line of sight is about 2 feet higher than my actual line of sight...

plus there are big thick white lines at the silverton events that show which way while you are walking the course...

at first, it looks confusing, and at the LVMS events I got lost on course regularly... but with a few events under your belt you start to get good at reading the cones and the whole game changes... that's when the goal goes from trying to stay on course to trying to drive the best line and keep yourself going as fast as possible...

So even if you go out and your first couple of events you find yourself approaching a corner and feel like "wait, which way do I go again" dont worry... that happens to everyone at first... its still just as much fun the first few as it is later after you start to get the hang of it

you should come out to the one at the end of the month

It may have been the first event at Silverton I was at, a couple of our guys were entered the black Rx7 vert and the red and black Rx7 second gen/that guy was running a kart as well. I'll be there, next is a set of tires as the SA is spinning them way too easy lol

was either one of them named Nicholas or Paul? if so I need them to come back soon! it's lonely being the only one in my class and the couple of FCs that were there for my first couple of events but disappeared after that...

and actually they are both still in 2nd and 3rd place in the points if they are members and race a few more races they could even get trophies at the end of the year (although they might give trophies to weekend members too I dont remember for sure)
