dang... alright...

well in that case I guess I need to find someone else with a miata, a non-turboed rx7, or a del sol, mr2 etc... with street tires and an open diff who doesn't want to drive in ES/CS  violin pity

either that or, I need to get some race tires and start putting more into my car so that I can get my rear end handed to me by the CSP guys lol

Hey I might give it a try but with these rules it's not fair, my Miata would my compete with the modified monsters due to the factory torsen that all 94+ Miatas have.
Do they actually check the diff at tech inspection or you just say if you have anything modified on your car?
I only have the shocks/springs but they're no anything special, car still rolls.

Plus i currently have some crap tires so instead of keeping a line I'll be sliding all the time (enjoyable but not for time attack).

well... you may not qualify for ST classes but you could probably do stock with that setup if the diff is stock. I think your suspension would be a bigger question...

here is a quote from the rulebook on shocks:

Quote
The make of shock absorbers, struts, and strut housings may be
substituted providing that the number, type (e.g., tube, lever, etc.),
system of attachment and attachment points are not altered, except
as noted below. The interchange of gas and hydraulic shocks absorbers
is permitted. The following restrictions apply:

you might want to read further to see the restrictions that apply http://www.scca.com/documents/Solo_Rules/2010_scca_solo_rules.pdf

information on stock classes start at page 73...

as for checking in tech or not... I would say, it's better to run in a inflated class than it is to slip through but I think alot of people wouldnt really care especially if you modifications dont give you any advantage...

To really get the best advice I would suggest signing up on LVRSCCA's site and posting something up on there for help with classing. Of course if you admit to them on there and it ends up bumping you up then you wont be able to fool tech into saying you have less lol.

my theory is, oh well for classes, go out and knock some cones around! especially right now when it's only $30/$45 to race

So we had 6 LV Mazdas people rancing at the last one, anybody up to try to top that number this next time? I am sure that myself, Michelle, and Rick will be there cause we are always there.

Next one is the last day of the month: Satrday July 31st, reg starts at 5, and first car out (hopefully) at 7...

Dave H (the usual course designer) has asked me to come up with some designs for the next track so if he likes one of them it's possible that I'll be designing the next track too.

alright... tonight is the night!

im getting my shit together now, who else is coming and happened to see this before heading out?

I've got 3 designs ready for Dave, 2 of them I think have a much better chance than the 3rd but we shall see...

I hope I dont get stuck in the first run group when the sun is still cooking, it would be nice to cool off a little first

I think Eric runs in SM2 with a supercharger.

If I remember to I'll look it up in the rulebook in the next couple of days

by the way our friends at Focal Distortion turned it out at this last race! there were like 10 of them there, and a bunch of them raced.

Here is my best run from the last event (forgot to post it) my course deisgn with the help of Dave H

boosted miatas will run SSM. And if you have bracing like mine, then you will run XP. But.. i still run SSM for the competition.

I believe you have misinterpreted the rules. Since many miatas came with torsen LSD's from the factory, they are indeed legal in stock and street tire classes. Aftermarket LSD's are also legal in street prepared and above classes. In a previous post, you had mentioned getting some R888's... those would not be legal for street tire classes, but would be legal for stock, and street prepared and above.

Also, not all 94+ miatas came with a LSD... my kid sister's 94 has an open diff, and my '99 has an open diff. the '96 we race, however, does have a torsen LSD.

on LSD's in ST classes in a miata: standard viscous type LSD is all that is acceptable in STS, any other stock LSD would have to run STR (although I would suggest verifying that because I know the rules for STS much better than I know STR)

Summer series is over, and the next autocross is September 19th at LVMS and is back to full days and full price
