Boy do I feel like a chump. Waited till 8 PM all alone outside a KMart level chicken fast food joint.  Angry That won't happen again. Whoever planned this gathering of nobodies really got me good. So to make amends, I am planning a Mazda get together at Hot Rod Grill on American Pacific, just north of of the 215 and Stepanie, near the automall area. At least if no one shows up there, I won't care, cause they have Guinness on tap, and you can have a beer while you look at great cars in the parking lot. And no one cares if you should turn a tire over or rev your motor a little. So if anyone wants to join we will be there at 8 PM sharp.  Tongue

While I understand your frustration, I would like to point out that not all meets are guaranteed to be large meets. There are a few regulars which, unfortunately either have plans for tonight or are currently occupied with certain situations which would bar them from attending this meet. As I have stated before, the number of attendants at any given meet vary greatly due to club members' changing schedules and responsibilities. Please feel free to attend future meets, I hope this experience has not dampened your view of the club and the meets.

Sorry that Poondoggs and I couldn't make it. 99.99% of the time that I say we are gonna be there, we are there. Unfortunately we are in the process of moving to CA and well, yesterday is when we had to finish up wrapping our crap in our storage unit (lease ends 7/30) to move into our rental today. It took longer than expected. We didn't even go to the Evo meet. Sad Hope to meet you soon!

alphanumeric said it perfectly! Please don't get discouraged. I was discouraged at first too. Poondoggs and I can't stay out until the wee hours of the night and that seems to be when a decent amount of people show up. Once you get to know some of the people, it makes it all worth it. People do have plans and there is nothing they can do about it. What's nice for us is that we hit up the Mazda meet and then head over to the Evo meet. Two meets are better than one. Well, when I first joined almost nobody was even out there until 8:30-9pm... which I have to be up early too so that sucked for me, but as the weather joined up people started to come earlier (go figure, you would think it would be the other way around)

Unfortunately like alpha says above, you picked a bad night to be there....

I would say your best bet to guarantee that you are there when others are there is to show up at about 9. I have never been to a meet where there wasnt at least a couple of people out at 9. even with some of the smallest turnouts. Another thing that helps is to check the threads and see when other people are going to be there... Myself and quite a few others will say if we are going to be there and when in the meet threads... I didnt reply to the thread this time, because I didnt think (and ended up not) that I would be able to make it this week.

I guess the club has looked at pushing the start time back once but there are a couple of problems with that... one thing is, if its pushed back until 9, then the theory is no one will show up until 11 lol... the other thing is, it seems people are actually starting to get out there earlier even though its still sizzling outside.

Jem is right though, the people are great and its worth the hassle. I might make it out to the next one, but I doubt I'll be out at 7 when the sun is still up and roasting people

At Chilis having a beer

Wait a sec...... I was at Chilis at the same time having two 22 oz.'rs of Sammy Adam's Summer Ales and a very tasty Smoke House dead moo-moo,  sitting at the end of the bar.... right next to two German tourist whom could of used some real serious Axe affect (they stank somewhat fierce). Tongue
Do you by chance drive a black NC with the "M" removed and replaced with aviator wings?

Yep, that was us. Margie and I were at the near end of the bar next to the buffet, or what bartenders call the place to keep the lemons, limes, cherries, olives, and such. Margie's plates say MAGSMX5... hence the screen name.
