what is the advantage of having a 1.8 diff as apposed to a 1.6 ?

The 1.6 is weaker, but quicker. The pinion on the 1.6 is weak and they break easily on stock power

ah, so the 1.6 has shorter gears but 1.8 optimal for anything above stock power + track driving huh ?

Yup, if everything goes well after the lca replacement and coilover. Planning on doing 6 speed swap with FM clutch and f1 flywheel to get quicker acceleration
